Pumpkins, beautiful colors, football and sweaters… there’s so much to love about fall! You only have a short time frame to embrace the season before Old Man Winter shows up, so check these ideas out. We are sure you will “fall” in love with them! (Yes, pun intended.)
Use nature’s art kit! Gather the kids, give each one a plastic bag and set off for a walk! Along the way collect nature’s art supplies (leaves, pine cones, etc.) and use them to make some nifty fall crafts! Start your own collection and make more complex crafts like wreaths and centerpieces. The possibilities (and supplies) are endless! Create for yourself or share with family and friends.
Photograph it! Pick a pretty spot (maybe the oak tree in the backyard or the mailbox with the tree-lined driveway behind it), and photograph it every day. Use the same position and time of day for each picture. Let each child pick their own special spot to photograph and compare the changes. Compile your photos into an album or digital scrapbook and see how much the scene has changed. Send a Happy Fall card to share your photos with loved ones.
Light a fire! Nothing will get you in the spirit of things like a good bon fire! Rid the yard of excess leaves, sticks and weeds and make a nice fire. (Remember to check with your HOA first if you live in a neighborhood.) Grab the marshmallows and some blankets, and spend the evening fireside! Tell funny stories, talk about the adventures from summer and plan new ones for winter while your family bonds beside the flickering flames. If that doesn’t get your fall spirit going, we are not sure what will! Want to share the excitement? Invite the neighbors over for a s’mores party.
